Forty Acres is proud to announce the return engagement of The Old Ceremony, Saturday, Sept 18th at 8:00 pm. This will be a special outdoor performance at the Chatham Country farm of Scott Kohn and Liz Bromberg. You should bring folding chairs or blankets for lawn seating. The Old Ceremony draws water from a deep musical well, from the Beatles to Beck, Leadbelly to Led Zeppelin. After three acclaimed albums and six years of touring, the Chapel Hill band has built a loyal following. TOC has performed with CAKE, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Chuck Berry, Polyphonic Spree, Mountain Goats, and the Avett Brothers. PASTE Magazine included them in its “Top 100 Albums of 2006″ and The Independent Weekly Readers Poll named them the “Best Band for 2008″.

TOC is figureheaded by songwriter/raconteur Django Haskins, and includes bassist Matt Brandau, drummer Dan Hall, vibes/organist Mark Simonsen, and violinist/keyboardist Gabriele Pelli. Their new album Tender Age will be released the day before this show.

Last night, Jukebox the Ghost premiered their new song “Schizophrenia” on the Late Show with David Letterman. The song comes the band’s sophomore record Everything Under The Sun, which comes out this Tuesday September 7th through Yep Roc Records. Watch video of the band performing the song below and listen to “Schizophrenia” streaming now on Facebook and MySpace. Also, be sure to check out the band on tour playing headline shows as well as opening for Guster! Dates below.

Armed with their new record Everything Under the Sun produced by Peter Katis (Interpol, The National, Fanfarlo), the band combines their adept skills as individual musicians, tirelessly energetic live sets and pulsating catchy lyrics.

The record’s debut track, “Empire” is best described by vocalist/keyboardist Ben Thornwell as: ” …an extended metaphor of the heart as a castle, A keep is defined as ‘The Stronghold of a Castle’ thus, ‘My heart, is my keep and you are threatening me.’ And the truth is that an empire, as is love, is hard to keep peaceful.”

April Smith and the Great Picture Show will bring their swinging, juke joint swagger to one of the biggest stages in sports on Sept. 8, when they perform at the 2010 U.S. Open, in Flushing, NY.

The New York Post declares Smith “adorable, quirky, and the owner of a voice that could cure depression,” in their PopWrap blog, adding that, “April makes the world a better place. Period.” That makes the Brooklyn-based quintet the perfect act for the tennis tournament that boasts the slogan, ‘It Must Be Love’ – they play on the U.S. Open’s Baseline Stage, Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 6pm.

NEW TOUR DATES

September 2nd – Washington D.C. @ DC9
September 3rd – Teaneck, NJ @ Mexicali Live
September 8th – Flushing, NY @ Arthur Ashe Stadium, Baseline Stage
